Luna aprilie ne-a surprins în fiecare zi, de regulă cu soare și o căldură neașteptată pentru sărmanii de noi, obișnuiți aproape toți cu o climă mai blândă (mai puțin Klara, care, deși vine din Suedia, este cea mai friguroasă). Am fost surprinși, mai mult sau mai puțin plăcut, și de două ninsori care i-au făcut pe băieți să își lucreze mușchii împingând mașina care patina pe dealurile din Feleacu.
La capitolul lucru manual am lucrat intens și suntem mândri să anunțăm că micuții au învățat să se folosească corect de o foarfecă, de lipici și mai ales de creativitatea lor, care s-a concretizat prin o mulțime de culori care au însoțit fiecare mic obiect de artă făcut de ei. Am creat decorațiuni în formă de iepurași, pui, pisici și chiar lilieci pentru ghivecele cu flori ale mamelor, am reciclat materiale din casă pentru a da naștere unor roboți mari, apoi am pictat ouă fierte și le-am creat mici suporturi din fetru colorat.
Ne-am antrenat în aceste săptămâni și competitivitatea – capturarea steagului a adus multă bucurie câștigătorilor și, sperăm noi, capacitatea de a învăța cum să pierzi, pierzătorilor. În realitate, cu toții am avut de câștigat multe zâmbete și o legătură mai puternică cu ceilalți.
Plimbările la pădure au fost îndelungate și dese – am căutat flori aduse de primăvară, Victor ne-a vorbit despre păsări, iar Vlad a organizat un întreg proces cu martori, acuzați, avocați și judecători, dezlegând un mister care implică niște gustări clandestine furate și mâncate pe furiș în vestiar. Nu au lipsit și bezelele cu ciocolată și biscuiți, topite fie la fermă, fie la focul de la pădure. Știați că bezelele pot fi o modalitate de scoate dinții de lapte? Ne-a demonstrat Luca, al cărui dințișor a rămas lipit în bezeaua din care mușcase!
Un alt moment ce merită a fi menționat este ziua de naștere a lui Pierre – l-am surprins într-o seară cu cadouri, tort, și mai ales cu prietenia noastră, a voluntarilor, dar și a Anei, Ioanei, Cristinei și Denisei! Pierre ne spune acum că deja lucrează la corpul său de vară, așa cum scrie și pe hanoracul primit cadou. Nu ne spune dacă lucrează și la celălalt mesaj, de pe tricoul de alergare primit: “Move your hass”.
Am descoperit, odată cu copiii, jocurile copilăriei părinților noștri, și ni le-am amintit pe ale noastre – șotron, elasticul, țară țară vrem ostași, fața ascunselea, sarmale reci, rațele și vânătorii, 1 2 3 la perete stai!
Datorită parteneriatului cu Banca pentru Alimente Cluj, ne-am exersat capacitatea de persuasiune (sau evervare) a clienților din LIDL. Am fost prezenți zilnic pentru a vorbi despre colecta de alimente neperisabile pe care o facem pentru familiile nevoiașe din comuna Feleacu și împrejurimi și pentru a-i încuraja pe ceilalți să ne susțină cauza prin donații. Fiecare din noi a avut un oarecare segment țintă de clienți cu care avea succes – spre exemplu, Beltran s-a axat pe fete tinere, iar Pierre pe bătrâni. Satisfacția noastră a fost mare când am încărcat în dubiță produsele colectate, și chiar mai mare când am mers la familiile nevoiașe pentru a le împărți și a sta de vorbă cu sătenii.
La final de lună aprilie, ne-am bucurat cu toții de zilele libere de Paște, perfecte pentru a ne da un “reset” și a porni cu entuziasm în următoarea perioadă, la programul after-school.

April surprised us every day, mostly with sun and unexpected heat for the poor of us, almost all accustomed to a milder climate (except Klara, which, although she comes from Sweden, feels the coldest all the time). We were surprised, more or less pleasantly, by two snows that made the boys work their muscles by pushing the car that was skidding on the hills of Feleacu.
During all this time, in Pahumi we had a continuous and intense activity materialized in four weeks, equally fun and exhausting, of the spring camps. The group was huge, so we had a lot of participants for the games we prepared. Each volunteer took his role a bit more seriously and prepared their activities thoroughly, from one week to the next one. The general theme was preparing for Easter and reconnecting with nature, which became more and more flourishing.
We worked hard on the crafts chapter and we are proud to announce that the little ones learned to correctly use the scissors, the glue and especially their creativity, which materialized through a lot of colors that accompanied every little art object they made. We’ve created decorations in the shape of bunnies, chickens, cats and even bats for the mothers’ flower pots, we’ve recycled materials from home to give birth to big robots, and then painted boiled eggs and created small colored felt supports for them.
We also trained our competitiveness in these weeks – capturing the flag brought a lot of joy to the winners an(d, hopefully, the ability to learn how to lose, to the losers. In reality, we all won a lot of smiles and a stronger connection with the others.
The walks to the forest were long and very frequent – we looked for which flowers spring has brought us, Victor told us everything about the birds that we saw and Vlad organized a whole trial with witnesses, defendants, lawyers, and judges, unraveling a mystery involving some stolen clandestine snacks that were sneaked and ate in the changing room. We also made marshmallows with chocolate and biscuits, melted either at our little farm or at the forest fire. Did you know that marshmallows can remove your baby teeth? Luca proved it to us – one of his teeth got stuck in the marshmallow from which he had bitten!
Another moment worth mentioning is Pierre’s birthday – we caught him by surprise during one evening with gifts, cake and especially with our friendship. The volunteers, but also Ana, Ioana, Cristina, and Denisa were there. Pierre now tells us that he is already working on his summer body, as it is written on the sweatshirt he received as a gift. He doesn’t tell us if he is also working on the other message written on the running t-shirt he received: „Move your hass”.
Together with the children, we discovered the games of our parents’ childhood, and we remembered ours – șotron, elastic, country, country we want soldiers, hide your face, cold sarmale, ducks and hunters, 1 2 3 stop at the wall!
Thanks to the partnership with The Food Bank of Cluj, we practiced our persuasion (or disturbance) skills on the LIDL customers. We were present in LIDL daily to talk about the collection of non-perishable food we make for needy families in Feleacu commune and its surroundings and to encourage others to support our cause through donations. Each of us had a certain target segment of customers with whom he was successful – for example, Beltran focused on young girls, and Pierre focused on old people. Our satisfaction was great when we loaded the collected products in the van, and even greater when we went to the needy families to distribute the food and talk to the villagers.
At the end of April, we all enjoyed the Easter holidays, perfect to give us a „reset” and to start with enthusiasm for the next period, the after-school program.
